Gastrointestinal Health Insights

Digestive health remains a critical concern in Washington, D.C., particularly due to high rates of colorectal cancer and related conditions. The District has historically reported higher-than-average colorectal cancer incidence compared to national rates, with some estimates showing rates above the U.S. average. Additionally, African Americans experience significantly higher incidence and mortality rates, often linked to later-stage diagnoses and limited access to screening. These disparities highlight the importance of early detection through routine screenings, improved access to care, and increased awareness of gastrointestinal health across the D.C. community.
